[no2id-supporters] Help us beat the Bill

Dear friend of NO2ID,

I'm writing to you now because we still have a chance to stop the
Government's ID scheme while it is in Parliament. But we cannot do it
without your help.

The debate last night revealed just how weak and damaged the Government's
case is.  Despite all the misleading leaks in the media, their majority was
reduced again - to just 25.  There will be a real battle in the Lords.

But we cannot afford to be complacent. Now educating public opinion and
mobilising people across the country is more important than ever. We will
continue our lobbying activities in Westminster, but NO2ID has to try to
wake the nation. A public outcry will kill the Bill.

Our priority now is to fund an 'alternative' roadshow to rival the Home
Office's recent efforts, and provide the other side of the story.  As this
travels the UK, we'll be holding training events, public meetings and
helping local NO2ID groups set up wherever possible.  But it will cost
money, and we need to act fast.

The Home Office plan is still for an Identity Cards *Act* to be law by
January.  With your help NOW we can prevent that.
