[no2id-supporters] NO2ID - now we fight again

Dear supporter,

During the general election campaign, Government ministers have 
repeatedly vowed that bringing back the "ID cards" legislation would be
a priority for the new parliament.

We cannot afford not to take them at their word. A new Bill won't run 
out of time. It will have to be defeated.

And in the new parliament NO2ID can win the argument. The reduced 
majority, and the fact that it is given by the smallest ever vote for a
winning party, mean there is no plausible mandate for a radical change 
to our whole way of life without proper scrutiny.  If MPs and the media 
can be made to take the matter seriously, parliament will reject another
rash attempt to force through enabling legislation.

Please, please keep encouraging others to join us.  Get involved with
your local group if there is one.  Start one if there is not.  Spread
the news about the dangers of the database state.  We can persuade MPs 
to think in the short term, but only when large numbers of people 
realise the problems with them will ID cards become politically impossible.

In the next few weeks we will redouble our lobbying efforts, and push
the campaign further towards being a national movement. But we need you
to help provide the resources to do so. All of our campaigners are
volunteers but the materials and equipment we use cost money.  So
please:

Join NO2ID, if you are not already a paid-up member. Hundreds already
have.

Paying anything over £15 p.a. means you qualify as a member--though most
members give a monthly amount.  Regular giving is the best way to help
the campaign.  For obvious reasons, we do need to know each member's 
name, postal address (including postcode) and e-mail address, but we 
will not voluntarily give personal details to any outside organisation.

Donate some money towards campaign expenses... we need your help NOW.

For example:
£10  lets us send information packs to 15 enquirers
£20  pays the office phone bill for a week
£50  will buy the envelopes to send a briefing to MPs
£100  covers the materials to print it
£300  lets us post it to them
£600  covers the rent for our tiny office for a month
