Milibands call for rise in bank levy
Jim Pickard writes in the Financial Times, comparing the positions the two Miliband brothers take on various issues:
Ed Miliband has criticised some of New Labour’s civil liberties policies, such as identity cards and its attempt to extend detention without trial for terrorism suspects to 42 days.
“It was never very clear to me why we were pursuing these policies”, he said in the FT interview.
By contrast, David Miliband told his Labour audience on Tuesday night that ID cards were a good idea that ministers had failed to explain adequately to the public.

So between them, the Milibands have got a fairly broad spectrum of excuses. I’m reminded of the classic explanation of a criminal in the dock: “I never touched ‘er, I was in Birmingham at the time, and besides it was self-defence!”

Why didn’t they say this at the time. Could it be they just want to make excuses.
By the way if anyone is buying a carving knife beware. Keep the receipt and the packaging. I bought one and took it out of the packaging and threw away the receipt. I put it in a small bag so as not to hurt myself and intended to use it for when we go out in the country. when my bag handle on the other bag broke I just picked up the one from the boot. Bad idea. My knife set off the metal alarm in a shop and guess what I was arrested for carrying an offensive weapon. So now I am on the DNA database as if I were a criminal.
They were a right bunch of surly chavs who took my fingerprints and swab.
I think the police have gone right down the nick.
