Surveillance society
The British Computer Society wants your help:
The House of Commons’ home affairs committee has launched an inquiry entitled ‘A Surveillance Society?’ and BCS is looking for your help in order to contribute to the report.
The inquiry will consider the growth of numerous public and private databases and forms of surveillance with a direct relevance to the work of the Home Office.
…
The inquiry will focus on Home Office responsibilities such as identity cards, the National DNA Database and CCTV.
If you have any opinions that you would like included in the BCS report, please send them to Liz Long (liz.long@hq.bcs.org.uk) by 13 April 2007.
You can also make a submission of up to 2500 words directly to the Home Affairs Committee – for details, see the committee’s web page here. The deadline is 23rd April.
