A cracking row over ID card lobbying for us all to savour
Matthew Parris writes in The Times:
A blazing row broke out this week between the Conservative Party and the IT industry. Though it has a critically important bearing on the government policy at issue — Labour’s compulsory identity card scheme — this row is really about our unwritten constitution. It is a dispute in which David Davis, the Shadow Home Secretary, is absolutely right. The information technology industry knows it. This explains its fury. The Labour Party knows it, too. This explains its silence.
The story has hardly broken in the media, except in the financial press. But an exchange in which a man quite likely to be Home Secretary after the next election calls the trade association representing many of the world’s largest IT suppliers “incredible”, “insulting”, “ill-judged” and “disingenuous” deserves attention.
The correspondence is a joy to read. The website ConservativeHome has published it in full. John Higgins, Director-General of Intellect (an IT umbrella body), must be reeling this weekend — unready for what hit him after he was unwise enough to accuse the Shadow Home Secretary of “point-scoring”. With evident relish Mr Davis has piled in, fists flying. At issue is this: Mr Davis has publicly warned the IT industry that in making arrangements with the present Government for delivering a national ID card scheme, it should know that an incoming Tory government would reverse the policy and unwind the private sector contracts that have flowed from it.
After summarising the corrrespondence (available from the ConservativeHome web site here), Parris concludes:
It is good to see a leading Conservative take a hardheaded approach to inappropriate lobbying by the business sector. Even if I did not share the Tories’ antipathy to the ID card plan I would find Intellect’s suggestion that the Official Opposition abandon a central policy simply because the Government had padlocked its programme to a contract with the private sector worse than inappropriate: it is outrageous. In opposition, Labour had every right to announce, as it did, that it would scrap contracts for the Millennium Dome project, which it would cancel.
Would that Labour had stuck to its guns and done so. Whatever the price of abrogating those Dome contracts, the nation would have been saved a great deal more money by aborting the plan. There is hardly a date before December 31, 1999 when this would not have been preferable to the alternative.

The Identity Cards Act remains on the statute book, taxpayers continue to face a £20bn bill and our civil liberties remain under attack but, in four years of campaigning, I don’t remember a better week. Thanks to David Davis’s inspired move, Westminster, Whitehall and the ID card suppliers are all under notice.
25 years ago, or thereabouts, the UK consultancy firms decided for the first time to bid for central government work. The firm I worked for won an assignment at the Property Services Agency. One day, Michael Heseltine became Secretary of State for Defence, and that same day, no questions, they were out. Not needed. Desks cleared.
That is what success for No2ID will look like, that is what I look forward to from David Davis.

THE PORK BARREL — WHAT WILL SUCCESS FEEL LIKE?
No2ID will succeed. The people working on the ID cards scheme are living in a bubble, inside which they have to deny the evidence, they have to ignore history, they have to pretend to themselves that they are popular, they have to reinterpret and clarify and, when all else fails, they have to lie.
No2ID will succeed through obsessive hard work, through attention to detail and through the imaginative use of facts and logical argument, well-articulated conviction, calm and relentless commitment, cooperation, coordination, charm and contacts.
One day, No2ID will burst that bubble, the ID cards team will be confronted by reality and they will be routed.
And then there will be no object left for all that obsessive hard work to be directed towards. I predict a let-down effect. Be prepared for the moment when you first say to yourself, puzzled, that you rather miss the Identity Cards Act. That is one thing that success will feel like.
How many articles have been written this week thanking No2ID for all their hard work? That’s right. None. The same goes for Liberty. And the LSE. And many others.
If you’re campaigning against ID cards with a view to basking in global acclaim, get out now. We need to be clear about our objectives. And we need to be ready for a feeling resentment at the apparent ingratitude of others when we win.

THE PORK BARREL — THE STUPIDITY OF INTELLECT
We were lucky.
The fact that Intellect are prepared to blackmail the UK taxpayer to try to get their way could well have remained hidden. They didn’t have to answer David Davis’s 5 February letter. And they certainly didn’t have to answer with the arrogant swagger and naked disdain that they chose to adopt, faced with someone trying to get between their snouts and the pork barrel. Luckily, they did.
The 6 February Intellect letter will be studied for years to come as an example of demented tactics. At a stroke, they revealed their mendacity to the world and destroyed their credibility. They will never again be trusted by the Office of Government Commerce, nor by their members, who will now have to form a new trade association.
Why do we know about the Intellect letter? Only because of the 8 February article in the Financial Times (FT). And why did the FT write it up? Only so that they could get a dig in at the Conservatives, sneering that there is a gap opening up between the Conservative Party and business in general. Another mistake. If the FT had forgone the pleasure of that dig, who would know about Intellect’s letter?
It took two mistakes. Thank goodness for stupidity.

THE PORK BARREL — THE SILENCE OF THE HACKS
I found out about the David Davis letter thanks to No2ID’s website first thing in the morning of 6 February. I made several confident predictions immediately, every one of them wrong:
• Mr Davis’s initiative will dominate the press for weeks
• Political analysts will write endless articles about his unprecedented move and several more listing all the precedents
• Conservative-supporting commentators will glorify Mr Davis for his clarity, daring, directness, honesty, etc …, and anti-Conservative commentators, the opposite
• All those supporters of ID cards who have written well-turned think-pieces will write further well-turned think-pieces, shaking their heads, bemoaning Mr Davis’s naïve clarity, daring, directness, honesty, etc …
• All those critics of ID cards who have written well-turned think-pieces will write further well-turned think-pieces, pointing out how clever Mr Davis is, he agrees with them
Instead, there was silence. Nina Steggar, Michael Hack and Terry “got it”, so to speak, immediately, on the No2ID website. But otherwise, not a whisper.
I couldn’t understand it. On Thursday and Friday I tried to convince three journalists to write the story up. One of them had even bigger fish to fry. Two of them didn’t.
And then Matthew Parris broke through in Saturday’s Times with his brilliant article.
Why the silence otherwise?
The silence of the anti-Conservative hacks and the ID card scheme supporters is understandable. Unlike the idiotic FT, they didn’t want to give the Davis story any prominence at all in case it took off.
But where were the pro-Conservative press? Where were the comparisons between David Davis and Straw/Blunkett/Clarke/Reid?

They couldn’t get Simon Heffer on board and Matthew Parris has previously slipped up, comparing Mr Cameron to a jellyfish and a puffball during the Conservative Party conference in October 2006. But otherwise, either the news is about Cameron or there isn’t any news. Among these hacks, David Davis is an unperson.
That is another problem for No2ID. That, I suggest, is why we haven’t yet got the mileage out of David Davis’s inspirational leadership that perhaps we might have expected. I may be wrong. I hope so. I look forward to the coming week. And in the meantime, my congratulations to Matthew Parris.

The National I.D. Card.
Everyone is being told that the I.D. Card is for the security of the nation and to make it easy to identify the people who have no rights to be in this land of ours…but did you know that this is not the real reason for the I.D. Card, that’s just the lie they want you to swallow, there is a darker, much darker reason for the I.D. Card.
What you are about to read is how the British people are to be used as a test lab for the world rule that is coming and how I.D. Cards will imprison a whole nation within the largest prison on earth and how the British people will be turned into slaves for the elite minority that will rule this prison.
What is an I.D. Card, well normally no one would fear an I.D. Card as it normally only shows who you are and a picture to match the holders appearance, this is then used to prove age, identity or membership of some body, it is not for the control and monitoring of the nation but that’s what the plan is, how could this be done I hear you say, after all it is just an I.D. Card how can that control me, well my intrepid enquirer’s pay attention as this will get complicated and technical.
Firstly the I.D. Card is nothing as just an I.D. Card, its what is in it that makes it so dangerous to your liberty, first the I.D. Cards will be issued in a basic form and they will contain biometric information about you, your finger print and some of your blood (DNA), it will also contain MDNA which will enable the reader to determine your bloodline and who your parents are and whom you are descended from, it will contain all your financial records and medical details and a unique pin no: that’s your to access your accounts, gain entry, it will also be fitted with a GPS tracker similar to those found in our phones already, more about that later.
At first the people will accept the I.D. Cards on the old chestnut of “if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear” and that its for our good, to identify terrorist (of course all the evil people in the world will get an I.D. Card before bombing any UK targets) and track criminals, sounds not to bad but then comes the changes, first the I.D. Cards will be updated, at our expense with some kind of carrot to encourage people to upgrade, when the I.D. Cards are ready this is the world we will live in…
First the Government will announce that within 12 months all forms of paper and coin form money will cease to be legal tender and that the nation has 12 months to bank all cash assets for transferal to bank credit, there will be no more cash as we know it, you will have you accounts linked to the I.D. Card and you will simply present you I.D. Card for all transactions. Every transaction will be logged monitored and analyzed, you credit will be checked every few minutes to detect so called criminal activity but its simply to monitor your cash balance and see what you are spending money on. With this system the government agencies will know your every purchase, your habits, your likes, your dislikes and most of all your pattern of movements during the time you purchased the things you need or want. They will know what music you like, what food you eat and the drinks you drink and of course how much you drink at any one time, the scope for this surveillance is too big to list here, but it’s coming sooner than you think.
After cash has been removed from the society the State can monitor any and all monetary transactions, if you sell something you will have to use a thing called a Credit Point where you will enter all the details of the transaction and who the seller is and who the buyer is, drug dealers might think that’s easy just sell drugs under a different name, but think about it how many deals do you think could be done before the State knows what you are doing and who is buying it from you. Cash crimes will be eliminated almost over night, no more robberies for cash as it does not exist anymore, no black market deals, no cash to spend underground, you could swap for stuff but that will be so minor its not worth worrying about as no item will have any cash value and when you come to sell your horde the State will see no record of you buying such items and therefore ask the question “where did you get these items”
This system is brilliant in its simplicity and implementation, those who lead completely normal straight lives will never challenge the cashless society as they have nothing to lose but those who deal mostly with cash will soon find them selves the subject of investigation. Shops will be using the chip and pin system so shopping for goods will be the same, but kiss good buy to car booty’s and alike, this is all about control of your money and collection of taxes for the State.
THE BEGINNING OF THE GREAT DIVIDE…
It will only be a matter of time before we see security doors on Shopping Malls and Supermarkets…this is how the control starts, pay attention from here on as it gets complicated and fast, here we go, after making the people of the nation believe that fuel is at premium prices thus enabling the price of food to pushed up so that the poorest will be unable to afford the best products and will have to make do with the lower end of the markets, and be subject to the high prices charged by the smaller private shops that will cash in on this bonanza created by the exclusion of the poorer elements from both Malls and Supermarkets, first you have to realize that a Shopping Mall is a private Company not a public space, same as Supermarkets are owned by private owners not the State, the owners have the right to prevent people from shopping there but it must not be discriminating to people in the process, so how will it be done. Now that we understand that Shopping Malls are not public spaces this is how the control will start, the owners of the Malls will encourage a loyalty card system and collect the names of shoppers, they will then announce that the Mall is to be a members only Shopping Mall, meaning that unless you have access on your I.D. Card you will be locked out of the Mall.
Now why would this be good for the Mall owners, read on, what the Mall owners are interested in is money, nothing else but money, now if you have a list of your patrons you can then ask them to fill in a questionnaire about them selves, income levels, residence, qualifications etc. etc. then they can set a limit on income levels for membership, can you guess what’s coming next, the limit will be set to £20000 per year to begin with this, but it will rise as the Mall weeds out those they do not want or who do not spend enough, so anyone who earns less than £20000 per year will be locked out of the Mall, after all if you don’t have the money to shop there you have no right to be there and that will be the defining line, no cash(credits) no shopping in our posh Mall, this will happen at every Mall restricting access for the poor to the products on sale, we soon begin to see the difference between the people who can shop at the best for the best and those who can not shop at the best for the best because they do not meet the strict requirements set by the Shopping Mall membership criteria. With this in place the goods can be refined and tailored to the customer members and thus ensure that the owners/shareholders of the Malls can make as much money as possible without incurring to much waste from products that do not sale. They will also be able to work out from your purchases what you are into and what you like, from types of films you like to watch, to how you exercise , if you buy trainers.
Now what does this all mean, not a lot if you don’t care about any of this or are to stupid to understand what real freedom is, but just take a moment to digest this, as this was written the government and private agencies are constructing and researching the Super Data Bases, this will be huge secure, and when I say secure I mean very secure, warehouses that will house Super Computers and masses of Data Storage Devices, a Data Storage Device for every member of society that will contain every detail of your life from the cradle to the grave, in this Data Storage Device will be your life as monitored by the State. Now the power of such a Data Base is not fully understood but the system will have the ability to cross match data from every device to find matches and patterns in human behavior.
Every car will be fitted with GPS devices to back up the GPS in the cards so that every mile you drive is known to the system and the reason for every trip in a car known about, speeding will be a crime of the past as all cars will be restricted to the legal speed limits, in the future the cars will drive themselves but that’s another story… the main aim at the moment is to monitor all car activity, gone will the just going for a drive or cruising for the birds, you will only drive a car for defined reasons, never just for pleasure, fuel will be a premium article and subject to strict control and distribution, only the rich will be allowed to drive dependant again on your social status and income level, after all if you don’t earn enough to run and maintain a car then there is no reason for you to have one, this will be sold to the masses on cost of oil and the environmental protection that strict control of cars will bring, by limiting who can own a car or drive one is the best way for the State to limit the movements of the masses, as all public transport is cameraed it makes for the perfect medium to monitor the nations movements. In this system you can and will be challenged if you are walking down the street with no clear destination, wandering around will be an offence in the new State. Fitted in every house will be a security system that will monitor the position of cards within that house, this will be sold to the masses as protection from Identity Theft, protecting you silently as you sleep, it will monitor the fire systems of the house, the windows, the doors and even the cat flaps if you have them, and as you leave the house the system will know when and whom has left the house and at what time, knowing how long it will take for you to, say, get to work will be monitored and if you take to long it will be investigated, this is due to the fundamental principle of this system, they are committed to the detection of crimes before or as they happen and to ensure that a “rebel” movement is not formed to oppose their rule, remember they are a small group of elitists with a very big stick but that does not guarantee smooth rule for them they must ensure that the worst thing never happens, that being, a dumbed down populace being informed or shown just how weak the system really is, after all if everyone destroys the cards and monitoring devices than this would be a disaster for the system, this secret will be protected most of all and at any cost.
Many people believe that the state will need to kill 80 per cent of the population but that’s not the plan, the plan is to enslave the 80 per cent and contain them within a social prison where they will have to work at the designated job they are assigned so that the elite rulers of this prison can enjoy a work free life and free food paid for by the workers in their toil. There has never been much point in getting rid of 80 per cent of the populace, if they kill off the surplus people then who will do all the work for them, think about it. The way we work today, the way we are paid will all be different, no more will you be born with a right to be a member of this society but you must earn that position, your schooling will denote the work and position you enjoy, all taxes will be collected at source before you get a single credit on your card, any credit owed and bills unpaid all settled by the state before you get your “wage”. The definition of slave is a person who gets only food, clothes and bedding in return for absolute devotion to the demands of the owner, now if you have a system where you give the slaves a little money/credit to buy their own food, clothes and bedding, making sure they never get enough to get out of the system, then you no longer have slaves as such but a group of people stupid enough to work for you and what’s best is the slave owners do not have to provide a thing, the “workers” as they are known as now will take care of all of that saving the slave owners a small fortune and the headache of managing the slaves, when you take a job and sign any contract you become the employers slave, just because you get to choose how the money you are allowed to have gets spent does not make you free, it makes you a slave who has to do more than the slaves of old, now you have to pay for where you sleep, pay for what you eat, remember the system sets the prices, and worse, pay for the clothes you wear, old time slaves at least get this all done for them and only had to worry about how the master would treat them, whose worse off the slave with money in his pocket or the slave with none, they are both slaves at the mercy of the system…
CRIMES DETECTED BEFORE THEY HAPPEN…
Crimes will be very hard/impossible to commit under the ever watching eye of the system, if you can not leave you house without the system knowing how can you burgle or steal from someone, cant steal cars as they have devices to render them useless and to trap the thief, cant burgle someone’s house as when you enter the perimeter of the dwelling the system logs you identity due to the GPS system in your card, after all you could just be a visitor but as a burglar you are finished just a hand on that window/door and its curtains for you, cops, court with no witnesses or jury, not needed now the system sees all and is infallible, and off to prison for you or perhaps even the gas chamber if its you second offence, if you keep breaking the laws then you are better for society dead.
If you serve time it will not end with your release, your work will be greatly affected and you accommodation restricted, everyone around will be able to see you are a convicted felon as your I.D. Card now displays the emblem of a convicted prisoner, this will be with you for life and as such will affect you for life.
Those of you who get a lighter community sentence will be made to work for nothing in their own time to repay society, they will be made to wear special clothing that sets the aside from the rest of society to show the people what happens to law breakers and to allow everyone to know who is a criminal and to thus treat them as such, just like the Jews in Hitler’s Germany 70 yrs ago, if you are seeing a similarity to the events of past then the answer as to who really won the 2nd World War should be clear to you, it was not the Allies…
This is the whole idea behind the I.D. Card system, control by stealth, you won’t see it coming but it will come, the ability to enslave a whole nation you would think impossible but its here already it just needs to be refined and tuned and the I.D. Card is the tool to do it, the I.D. Card will give the State the ability to single any one of us out and to isolate that individual, using fear and cohesion to control friends and family, to divide the masses, as an individual you are vulnerable to the system, you are but a single entity facing the massive powers of the State, unsupported they can do anything they want to you, with this I.D. Card you are at their mercy, if you try to run they will cut off your credit,( no food, no clothes and no where to stay) revoke your pass (now you can not enter a single public door, no stations, no place to go)and post your details on every monitor system as a fugitive from the State, with severe penalties for those who aid the fugative’s you will be just about finished before you even started, the perfect control system.
AS you will remember the I.D. Card has a GPS locator fitted to it so you will have to ditch the I.D. Card to stay undetected but now the fun starts, where are you going to go, where can you go, the first camera that sees you and detects that you are not carrying your I.D. Card will alert ground forces of Home Security to your last location and the net will close on you, no point in hiding as it is an offence to conceal information from the State and if anyone see’s you hide they will of course inform on you, there will always be a coward to shop you on every corner, people are so selfish they always only think of themselves, most can not comprehend this larger picture, they only see what’s in front of them, exactly what the system wants for its dumbed down society of subservient drone workers (this is often referred to as the Hive Mentality Syndrome)
Every purchase you make will be stored, every door you pass will be logged, every journey logged, every destination known, every human interaction known, every person you have any kind of relationship with will be known and followed. Your indescretion’s will be know by anyone with access to the Data Bases, refused credit, failed marriage, misdemeanors never forgotten, the saying of “forgive and forget” will mean nothing as it will be impossible to do this, nothing will ever be forgotten and very few things will ever be forgiven. Imagine making a mistake when you are a child and 30 yrs later being refused something on the grounds of you did this as a child and therefore can not be trusted not to do it again, we will live as pennants to our faults and mistakes in life, yet another tool in the Arsenal to keep you in your place, from time to time the system will cause some deaths and attribute this to the “terrorist” who are all around us just waiting to strike at the people, strange to think that “terrorists” want to kill ordinary people, are they not usually at war with the State and if the State is the enemy of the people then these “terrorists” must be heroes, just a little more food for thought there.
This system will then be turned on the very people who can not shop in the Malls, the Supermarkets will become member only stores, similar to the Shopping Malls but with a slightly lower requirements criteria, you will have to earn more than £14000 per year to gain membership to a Supermarket, again for the same reasons as the Shopping Malls, they will weed out those who are to them undesirables, who wants people with no money in the store and this will also deter thieves if they can not gain legit entry to the store, and do not think of thieving as the places will be so cameraed up it will be impossible to steal from these Stores and Malls.
Then this system will be extended to every public service doorway not a membership system but you will need to use you I.D. Card to gain entry into any public building, including clubs and bars and all leisure facilities, around this time the cards will be upgraded and a GPS tracker fitted to the card, now that the access points are logged its time to track your movements and this is how it will be done. You will be required by law to have with you at all times your I.D. Card, failure to produce will be punishable first by a massive fine and then imprisonment, you must have this I.D. Card even if you are swimming (in your locker), and don’t think that if its in your locker you can slip out for some naughty fun, firstly you will not be able to leave the building without using your I.D. Card because your I.D. Card transmits it unique I.D. String to the system that is detected by cameras that can see you as it receives the I.D. String, no I.D. String but image on camera immediate lock down of area and Police deployment, you are now an enemy of the State and can be shot on sight…scary eh, but its for your own safety.
With such control comes the new legal system, complete with death sentences for the criminal element, unseen witnesses, and the members of the elite above from the law, the system has no desire to reform people, its only goal is to eliminate any threat to the system, people who break laws are likely to become “rebels” against the State and therefore must be “eliminated” in a legal and humane way. The system needs to contain and destroy any forms of opposition to the system and its elite masters, books will be restricted and knowledge jealously guarded from the people, the Internet for the use of only authorized members of society, every person will have a State email address for accessing messages from the State email service, they will in the future receive just the education required to do the jobs needed in this elitist society, questions will be frowned upon and persistent questioners sent to be re-educated.
With the I.D. Card system, you will be tracked, monitored and analyzed 24/7, they will know your habits, your movements and worst of all they will know you better than you know yourself, every aspect of your day can and most probably will be monitored in some way. this is the perfect control system and it is going to happen, sooner than you think, this will all take place in the next 10 -20 yrs.
The I.D. Card is a perfect concept, it allows for the control of the masses in a simple way and restricts and controls the money of the entire nation, it will stop the black market almost instantly and halts the sale of illegal drugs in the usual distribution, every second hand deal will be known, this system will also control the goods for sale, the amounts available and prices charged to the end consumer, all of this controlled by a simple I.D. Card you thought was just a simple I.D. Card, nothing could be farther from the truth as to the hidden dangers behind this not so simple I.D. Card.
This will bring about a system of control unlike any seen before it and it will take over without a single bullet fired or a single suspicion from the dumb masses who will only realize the true extent of State control when it is all too late to stop it, after all it is being sold to the masses shrouded in fear and claims of its for the common good, but that is a lie, there is nothing to fear and no such thing as common good, although you should all fear the Governments of the West now you have read and understood what I.D. Cards really mean.
I wrote this originally 20yrs ago and submitted it as a short story, it was rejected by the publishers as being to far fetched and to alike Orwell’s 1984, seems strange that now its coming true, the first part is almost upon us, if we as a nation accept this I.D. Card from the State then we are truly doomed as a nation of free people, already we see the Government altering the laws to fit with their long term plan, the Anti Terrorist Laws of recent seem aimed at our own people and the detention of people without trial seems to 1984 for me, now all those who called me insane the first time I wrote this how do you feel now its really happening, if the State wanted to make so called terrorism harder all they need to do is restrict the entry points to the country and vet every single person who applies to come into our country, that way we would know who is coming in and who is leaving.
I predicted 20 yrs ago that there would be a camera on every street corner, the Police would be armed and Martial Law would be in place once the I.D. Cards are in place, so far every street corner has a surveillance camera (well almost every street), the Police are armed (every officer has access to guns), I.D. Cards are coming for sure and Martial Law will follow after the next so called “terrorist” attack (carried out by the Governments Special Op’s), thus completing the picture.
The greatest part of this heist of freedom is that most of the people out there, especially the older generation who actually believe that the Government is there to serve them, fantastic trickery there, a generation of people to scared to question authority and to stupid (poor education) to really understand what’s going on for real, a generation who would never question the Government, never ever say no to the Government and really believes the Government are right, they swallow every word from the media as if it is the truth and will hark back to the War (every one had I.D.
