‘Too expensive and they aren’t secure’: two out of three Glaswegians are against ID cards
Rachelle Money writes in Big Issue Scotland:
More than two thirds of Glaswegians are against controversial national identity cards and the creation of a national database, according to a survey released this week.
Since 2002, when the scheme was first announced, the government has been under fire from critics who claim the proposed cards interfere with civil liberties, are too expensive, and will do little to tackle problems like terrorism.
The No2ID campaign group, who carried out the survey, claim almost two-thirds of the 378 local adults and teenagers interviewed were opposed to national ID cards.
Geraint Bevan, spokesman for No2ID Scotland, said: “We found that 67% of them were opposed to the cards. In the first question we asked how they felt about the fact that the ID cards will cost £93 and 58% said they were against the cost.”

O.K lets start turning the rest of the country onto the facts about the cards and the register, cost may be one factor but people need to to know the full implications of the register.
Secondly congratulations on your poster comparing Blair to Hitler it certainly seems to have stirred up a hornets nest, but as the saying goes “truth is a bitch”.and fair play to Dianne Abbott ,at least somebody in New Labour has the balls to stand up to Blair.
