Lords fight on
The BBC today reports that Conservative and LibDem peers will continue to fight against compulsory ID cards.
This is good news in the ongoing struggle against the plans. Please do contact a peer if you have not already done so!

I really hope they do give a good fight and refuse to make the ID card compulsory. I have written to a couple of the Ladies in the House of Lords, I hope they are planning to stand up for the re-amendment. I will post the replies if I get any.

Already mentioned it in my letter to several members of the upper house.
Elect the Lords? Only if the elections are on a completely different basis to the commons (perhaps a third of the house every three general elections, with areas of voting so everyone ‘has three Lords’). The idea is that each Lord is not worried too much about keeping friendly with the current govt. Ideally there’d be a vastly different system to prevent the Lords simply mirroring the commons.
I suspect that a mirror of the commons is exactly what Tony and Friends want…
