ID card pilot hit by technical glitches

The Guardian reports that the UK Passport Service biometric enrollment trial “was plagued with a series of technical problems even before its launch”. “(A) series of hardware, software and ergonomic problems leading to inconsistent enrolment” forced the UKPS to withdraw some of the equipment from the trial.
